The Nigerian advertising and media landscape stood still in honour of one of its most distinguished icons, Chief Emmanuel Ajufo, as he celebrated his 60th birthday. Known for his enduring contributions to the Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising industry, Mr. Ajufo’s diamond jubilee drew an outpouring of heartfelt tributes from industry leaders, friends, and associates who have been impacted by his vision, leadership, and character.
As the accolades poured in, colleagues and industry stakeholders highlighted the personal and professional legacy Chief Ajufo has carved out over the years.
from the current OAAN President, Dr. Sola Akinsiku, came a testament to Ajufo’s enduring leadership and moral compass:
“It is for me a thing of great joy to make these few comments as the industry celebrates Chief Emmanuel Ajufo, FRPA, on the occasion of his 60th birthday anniversary. I have known and related closely with him since I joined the team at Optimum Exposures in 1998.”
“He is a passionate leader, one deeply committed to the issues of character, integrity, equity, and fairness. And, I attest to it that these virtues are the very foundations of his successes both in business and in positions of leadership.”
“I am particularly happy for him for attaining the glorious diamond age. I wish him a most memorable birthday celebration and many more years in the service of humanity, in good health and abundance to the glory of God. My President, Happy Birthday to you.”
Similarly, Dozie Okafor, President of the Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN) and Managing Director of PHD Nigeria, offered a deeply personal tribute:
“As you celebrate your 60th birthday, I join many others in honouring a true pillar of the outdoor advertising industry. Your legacy of excellence, integrity, and dedication continues to inspire and shape those of us who follow in your footsteps. You are one of the rare few whose work and character I deeply admire. I wish you many more years filled with good health, a sound mind, and continued fulfilment. May your wisdom and leadership continue to illuminate the path for the rest of us. Happy Birthday, Sir!”
On his part, Dr. Emmanuel Agu shared a heartfelt message that reflected both friendship and admiration:
“Today, I join countless others in celebrating an extraordinary man, a visionary leader, and a dear friend—Chief Emmanuel Ajufo (Okwusia Ogwu)—as he marks his 60th birthday. Through the years, I have been privileged to know him not just in the professional realm, but on a much deeper level—as a confidant, a brother, and a true friend.”
“The milestones he has achieved through Opportunity To See Media Outfit are nothing short of inspiring, and the values he embodies—integrity, humility, loyalty—continue to leave lasting impressions on all who encounter him. Chief, on this special day, I wish you all the very best that life can offer: enduring health, abundant joy, peace of mind, and a legacy that continues to shine brighter with each passing year.”
Also joining in the tributes was Mr. Osamede, President of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria, (ADVAN), who praised Ajufo’s collaborative spirit:
“Chief Emmanuel Ajufo, in my view, is one of the very few good men left in our industry. As President of OAAN, he was always trying to bring heads of advertising associations together with the aim of ensuring the industry is better for everyone. As we celebrate this great man with many achievements, we should all think about the legacy we want to leave as industry people. Happy 60th birthday, Chief Ajufo.”
Mrs. Chiddy Ibiam, General Manager at OAAN, painted a vivid picture of Ajufo’s personality and principles:
“Chief Emmanuel Ajufo, FRPA, that I know is a very strong-willed personality. A man of his words and conviction who does not suffer fools gladly. Most often, he comes across as having a mean mien, but behind that shield is a somewhat kind and considerate person who stands his grounds on matters of fairness, especially when it comes to staff matters. I call him the encyclopedia of OAAN, because from my years in this Association, there is none that compares to him in knowledge of OAAN, its records and activities over the years.”
“I wish him the very best as he marks his 60th birthday. May God hold him close to HIS heart as he embraces the years. Amen.”
