The Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) has reacted officially to the removal from office of the immediate past Managing Director of the Lagos Signage and Advertising Agency (LASAA), Mobolaji Sanusi.
The Association, in an exclusive chat with MARKETING EDGE by its President, Emmanuel Ajufo, said it received with shock news of the sudden removal of the former LASAA MD, pointing out that “since he stayed this long after the expiration of his first tenure”, it was assumed that Mr. Sanusi had gotten support of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led Lagos State Government to continue in office as LASAA’s substantive MD.
The Association, however, said it welcomed the appointment of the new LASAA MD, Adedamola Adekunjo Docemo, whom it described as an advertising practitioner, adding OAAN as an Association was always willing to work with LASAA for the collective good of Lagos State and the Out-of-Home advertising industry.
While noting that the former MD, Mobolaji Sanusi would be remembered for giving the industry one of the best rate discounts in the history of LASAA, the association wished him well in his new endeavor, especially now that his era was gone.
The association regretted that the former MD had failed to implement the vacant site regime which was jointly agreed on between LASAA and OAAN Executive Committee last July, while charging the new administration of Mr. Docemo to urgently key into, and see to it that the agreement gets implemented.
Similarly, the Association urged the new LASAA administration to uphold the agreement entered into with its predecessor in office with regards to OAAN members’ campaign which ran in the build up to the 2015 general elections.
“Let me start by saying that we received the news with some shock because since he stayed this long after his first tenure had expired I thought he has been asked to continue. In fact, the day before the news broke out, I sent him a text message reminding him about his promise to start the vacant site regime that he promised to do since about July or so this year, when I led my executive team to visit him.
“Having said this, Mr. Sanusi will be remembered for giving the Industry the best rate discount in the history of LASAA. The icing would have been the vacant site regime which we all agreed to but has not been officially implemented,” he noted.
Mr. Ajufo continued: “We would also have loved that he upheld the agreement that we had with his predecessor in office over the campaign our members ran in the build up to 2015 elections. We are still pursuing this issue and hope that someday we’ll be heard. Now that his era is gone we wish him well in his new endeavor.
“We’ll also want to use this opportunity to welcome the new M.D. One thing that gladdens our heart is that he is an advertising practitioner. OAAN as an Association is always willing to work with LASAA for the collective good of Lagos State and our Out-of-Home industry.”
